What we don’t do

Before you buy — or decide not to — here’s exactly where we stop. Every item below is deliberate.

  1. 1. We don’t give legal advice.

We publish legal information — facts from the public record, organized around your charge. Legal advice is a professional judgment made by a licensed attorney who knows your full situation. That’s not us. Every report we produce is information for you to take to your attorney, not a substitute for one.

  2. 2. We don’t replace your attorney.

We sit alongside, not in place of, your legal counsel. We can’t file documents, argue in court, or negotiate a plea. Your attorney does that. What we do is make sure you walk into their office with the right questions and the public-record facts already organized.

  3. 3. We don’t predict your case outcome.

We tell you what comparable cases looked like in your district and before your judge. What happened in 38 similar opinions is not what will happen in yours. The pattern is information; the outcome is yours to contest. We never say you will win or lose.

  4. 4. We don’t have data we haven’t named.

Our research draws from named public sources: CourtListener court opinions, eCFR federal regulations, GovInfo federal statutes, and official state legislature databases. If a source isn’t in that list, it’s not in your report. We don’t have private attorney notes, sealed records, or proprietary court data. Every citation links back to the public record so you or your attorney can verify it.

  5. 5. We don’t gate free resources behind an email address.

Guides, checklists, and reference material on this site are free and ungated. No signup wall. The email you give us — if you give it — is for follow-up on what you asked about. We don’t collect it just to let you read something we could have shown you without asking.

  6. 6. We don’t auto-renew or lock you into a subscription.

Every purchase is a one-time transaction for a specific deliverable. No monthly charge. No renewal notice you have to cancel. You pay once, you get the report. That’s the full transaction.

  7. 7. We don’t sell your data.

Information you give us — your name, charge type, case details — is used to produce your report and respond to your questions. It is not sold to data brokers, marketing platforms, or third parties. Full data-handling detail will be published in our Privacy Policy when it goes live.

  8. 8. We don’t pretend research is the same as professional judgment.

Our research team reads public court records at scale and organizes what it finds. That is not the same as a licensed attorney reviewing your discovery documents and forming a legal opinion. We tell you what the record shows; your attorney tells you what to do with it.

Still the right fit? If what you need is the public-record facts organized around your charge — what comparable cases looked like, what your judge has done, what the statute actually says — that is exactly what we deliver. See what’s included in each report →

ImNotAnAttorney publishes legal information and research, not legal advice. We are not a law firm and do not create an attorney-client relationship. Decisions about how to use this information stay with you.
